Got a shot at a 513T
« on: November 30, 2004, 09:09:11 AM »
I have an oppretunity at a 513T. It's missing the trigger group but the parts that are there look in excellent shape. Also missing the trigger guard, too.

I don't have any experience with these rifles, the price is about 75 or so. I can get the parts I'm sure and installing them would'nt be a problem I dont think.

You guys think its worth the effort?

Definitely. Excellent old target rifles and parts are usually available to support them.

Good deal.  Numrich (e-gunparts.com) should have the parts you need.

Thanks Grey and Dog, I wasnt worried about the parts, I had already been to Numrich. Was just wondering if the rep of this model was worth the effort. I'll be going after it soon.

thats great! the triggers on that gun, are the weakest link. theres not much you can do for them, but daton trastor used to sell an adjustable unit that turnes it into a real target rifle!
i had one for a little while, and it was the trigger that kept it from being competitive against rem mod. 37 or win 52 or anshutz. but the price is right!!!

Trigger can be fixed to be quite good. Dunno how but know it can be done. My best friend Billy Doss (now deceased for almost four years) took his apart and reworked it and it was a very nice trigger afterward. Never did ask him what he did to it but I've shot that old rifle of his and watched him shoot it. Very nice rifle. Good trigger after he reworked it. Wasn't quite as good as my M541T but darn close.

Well, I guess I showed just a little too much interest. I went back and the guy had rethought the price and it was out of my acceptable price range.

Oh well, I'll keep on looking.
