Hey everybody, I just discovered these forums a few weeks ago while i was searching for load data. I have 3 handi- guns. My first i bought 8 to 10 years ago, it is an H&R Ultra heavy barrel 22-250 with curly maple stock. Its one great walk around varmit gun. My next was a NEF 10ga. turkey gun with 24in. heavy barrel black stock and choke tube. Its without a doubt the best turkey gun I've ever had and I have had several. I sold my BPS 10ga after I got the NEF, it will really reach out there and put the wood on a gobblers head. Last I have bought a 20ga. H&R Ultra Deluxe Slug Gun. I've got some places where i hunt that over the years have become more populated and i am no longer inclined to use a centerfire rifle for deer. Should not be a problem though as the slug gun is very accurate with several different slug makes. After purchasing several of those slugs i have decided that I will be able to shoot a lot more if I reload them. Does anyone here reload there sabot slugs??

When I had an Ultra slug 12ga, I cast the Lyman 525gr hourglass slug from wheelweights and handloaded them using a LEE LoadAll II. These load as a sabot using regular shotgun wads and a fold crimp. Not counting equipment outlay, cost per slug was about $0.59!
These were as accurate as could be hoped for, and cut quite a huge hole in a deer.
This mold does come in 20ga. If you already do any casting, you may want look into this.
Also, Ballistic products has some slug offerings. Take a look.

I found this slug to be far too brutal to shoot from the Tracker II 12ga that I have now (weighs 5# instead of 9#) , in the loads that produced the best accuracy, and have since gone to a storebought sabot.
