I am looking at an older 336rc made in 1957. It has a perch belly forearm,
and the buttstock does have the pistol grip butt "NO pistol grip Cap"
Is the correct for this model?
Thanks

Mine from that era has a rather bulbous fore end but I've never heardf the term you used to describe it. Mine has a pistol grip with grip cap. It came from an estate sale of an old man who had long collected such guns so I feel pretty sure it is original and was in almost unfired condition. The really sad thing is all the guns were treated very poorly after his death and the stock and fore arm have several handling gouges that are really ugly and detract from value. But For what I paid I bought it as a shooter and it does shoot nicely.

I have a newer one that is near mint. I'll likely end up with stock from it on this one and get me a laminated stock for the newer one.

Perch belly is the term I've come to use over the years being Mr. GB jr by only a few years. It sounds correct to the description .

I'v got one made in 55 & it doesnt have the grip cap. They may have started in 58 or so. I like it better without the cap anyhow & removed it from my other Marlin. Dont much like the white spacer sometimes fornd under the butplate either & I remove them also.

Who makes laminated replacement stocks?  You've got my attention.
