Misfired ammo can be dangerous. Remembering some light pin strikes mentioned.

Sheesh !
That guy's hand looked awful !
I have had "dud" rounds in my 357 revolver in the past and they have always fired on the second strike.
What should one do if after they wait the one minute 'hang-fire' time the round still is semi-live?
Obviously, one would not want to transport the firearm from the range to the home with a round still chambered in this condition for safety reasons.
Go MAGNUM/MAX LOAD or GO HOME !
Always use MUCH more gun than the minimum required to do the job.

i had a 7.62x54R dud go off after 3.5-4 minutes. It was still in the chamber and pointed in a safe direction. Probably my faulty reload.

i had a 12 ga ejected right after the failure to fire, it dropped in knee deep water/mud and it went boom right after sinking, 2 feet away from me.

i had a 7.62x39 go "click"...4 seconds... "boom".

Point is, be carefull, better wait with the thing in the chamber and pointed in a safe direction.

It always spooked me to handle duds, kept thinking about hangfires with muzzleloaders.  Don't guess I'll be doing that anymore.  Glad I got ejectors.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Hmmm, that kinda reminds me of a bouncing betty! Extracted rounds can be handled gently but an ejector might create a hazard. Anyway ya look at it, it don't sound like any fun. I think I'd be inclined to keep dropping the hammer on it until it fired.
