Went out christmas shopping this saturday for my wife and some how ended up at a gun store. Next  I'm walking out the door with a  NIB 357 Maximum handi. Didn't even know they made that caliber. Was out the door with the handi for $149.00. Is this round  good for deer within 100 yds. Thanks

great gun, great caliber, great buy!!!. I might keep my shots on deer under 100 yards unless you reload and do some shooting with it, but after a while with the right loads and confidence in your shooting at 100 it will be a wonderful deer gun for you....<><.... :grin:

I took a 130lb+ Doe this year plus its plain ole fun to shoot.Great deal. 8)

Ct kid thats awesome.You got a really good price.does it have a  laminated stock set or a regular wood stock set?I bet it shoots great. :grin:

It has regular wood. The forend is alittle different color than the butt stock but no big deal.What year was it manufactured by NEF.Who has good reloading data on this round.

Use the serial number prefix on the frame to determine the year of manufacture and the list in the FAQs at the top of this forum.

21grs H4227 180gr hard cast LBT gas check style, right at 2000fps and will print inside 2" at 100 yards better if I put glass on it. also likes H110, a1680, W296, and I'm gonna try some l gun, seems to like heavy bullets best but dosn't shoot bad with 110gr XTPs and those things come outta there at about 3000fps and do a number on watermelons. 8)

the 2 letters (the second actually) will tell you what year it was made, what are those 2 letters that start the frame serial number? Don't give us any numbers just for your peace of mind....<><.... :grin:

hk are the letters. So that might put the  date at 1996 according to FAQ on this site.
