Buckskin and braiding

Gentlemen, I have some 3/4" tanned deerskin strips I want to use for some tie downs.  Like a gun case to luggage, and other applications.  Is there any place a fella can find some splicing or braiding instructions for all of a strap or to connect a larger piece to a couple straps?  I can do three piece braiding but I saw some braiding that looked like a tube about the diameter of a pencil then it ran loose through a bead and then it had the loose ends.  Really put decorative touch on the small bag it was on.  Real pretty in a masculine way.  Thanks  Buckfever

Ya know, I had a book called Craftstrip Braiding Projects. It is a little softcover book published by the boyscouts on braiding that flat vinyl lace into keyrings and lanyards and the like.
