favorite 45/70 loads for my Handi

I am looking for suggestions of different deer hunting loads for the 45/70. Just got  dies and some 350 gr. Hornady round nose bullets given to me. I have Reloader 7 on hand but no other powders listed for 45/70. Are lead bullets good for hunting or are jacketed bullets better? I have never reloaded lead or shot them much either. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

One mild load that I picked up here on this site it 13 grains of unique with a magnum rifle primes and the 405 grain cast bullet. This yield about 1100-1150 fps and is pretty pleasant to shoot. A 300 grain jacked bullet works well for deer. The 350 grain Round nose that you have is good for anything in NA.

I've had good luck with 44 grs Reloader 7 and the Speer 400 gr Flat Nose.  Velocity is around 1750 fps.  Recoil is fairly stout though, at around 32 foot pounds.  In the 300 gr bullets, I've had great luck with the Various JHP's and anywhere from 42.5 up to 51.3 grs of IMR4198.  Never used Re7 with that weight bullet, but it's listed in various reloading manuals for the 300's also.

I've only loaded a few 350 Hornaday RN for a friend of mine to use in his Handi , 56 gr.s of IMR 3031 according to info. they travel bout 1950 fps out of a 18.5 in barrel.He likes that load he handloads himself now.
I like 405gr. Rem. bullet with 52 to 53 gr.s of IMR 3031 they travel bout 1800 to 1850 fps. out of my GG.
These are both stout loads and should be worked up to.
