Help Turning A '03A3 Into A '03A4
« on: December 13, 2004, 06:11:14 PM »
I have a good chance at aquiring a remington made 1903A3. I would like to turn it into a 1903A4 sniper(or a look alike anyway). I know I need to remove front and rear sights, add a "C" type stock modify into or purchase special bolt handle, purchase Weaver 440 or K6 scope(I know original was Weaver 330 or Lyman Alaskan but I can't afford one), and add a mount and rings. I would like to make as little alteration to the rifle as possible, so do those non-gunsmithing mounts in cabelas resemple the original at all? If not is the weaver redfield junior mount the one I shood buy? Am I leaving anything out? Any ideas on where to get some of this stuff? Advice? Thanks alot guys

You can get a 'low mount' modified bolt from www.sportsmansguide.com . Check out the SURPLUS catalog on their website.

If you want the correct scope base, you need the Redfield Jr.At this time, there is Weaver 330 scope on ebay with one bid of$19.99 so far.The scope comes with a set of rings, unfortunately they are not the correct ones for the Jr. base. You might check Sarco,I think I saw the 3/4" rings in one of their ads.I have two A4's and they are neat rifles.I hope this helps.
