I don't think any of the Simmons low end scopes are a good choice, from my experience and all that I have read of other's experience with Simmons scopes, the Deerfield, Blazer and 8-Points are less than desireable. Great reviews have been made for the ATV, Whitetail Expedition, Whitetail Classic, 44 Mag and Aetecs. These are all top of the line Simmons optics and range in cost from $79 for the ATV to ~$150 for the Expeditions. There are those that will recommend the Deerfield but in general, it would not be the best choice for a reliable optic from Simmons as there are much better choices for not much more money.

It is a low end scope that may work for a while or a long time.  Never can tell.  Your chances of getting a good, read decent, reliable scope in this price range is a crap shoot at best.  There are plenty of good reliable scopes for a 223 out there in the sub $100 price range.  One that I like is the Bushnell Trophy in 3-9x40.  I also have a couple of Simmons ATV's that I love, both less than $100.  I think Natchez shooter supply still has some at $79.  They are 4.5-14x40.  Just depends on what you are going to use it for.
