does anyone coat the wads before loading them. I was thinking about thinning out my lee alux and dipping them and let them dry well then load them

Well I am loading lee slugs in trap wads and am getting a lot of plastic fowling in the rifling.
I think the trouble is that I am pushing them too fast and it slug is just stripping down the rifling. But was thinking about the lube and seeing if it would help some

I wouldn't use alox....might raise your pressures too high, although I can't say for certain. You might want to try dusting your wads with motor mica before loading them. I do this with my steel shot loads to help increase velocity and reduce friction.

The Motor Mica is listed in one of my Ballistic Products manuals for reducing pressure. It would seem to meet your purpose without undesirable side effects. Just put some wads in a plastic bag, add some Motor Mica, and shake.
