Scope Rings for new Handi
« on: December 25, 2004, 03:55:21 PM »
I just got my first handi today...a .223 with the wood stock.  This isn't my first NEF, but first rifle of this manufacture.  I must say it feels great in the hands and the laminated wood looks great.  Now the question is which scope rings to buy.  My uncle said he had some hammer clearance problems with regular height rings.  The scope i will be using has a 40mm objective.  What type and height rings should i get for this gun?

THanks
Kurt

Get the 1" high rings. You will need at least that much to clear the hammer.
The more I listen,the more I hear....and vice versa.

45/70..it's almost a religion.

Nova;

Try the Warne brand scope mounts, they are the BEST in my opinion.
Kept having trouble with scope shifting on my 44 mag. barrel, tried these and they work. If you are not satisified with them you can return them for a full refund. I won't buy any other brand.

Warne is a good brand....another good brand would be from  Leupold...I have them on all my barrels...I use the QWR models... on my VX-1... 4-12x40's and on my Marlin  1895GS 45-70 on my VX-1 ..2-7x33...never had a problem with them...

I really like the Millet angle-loc (high) rings.
i have them on all my H&R/NEF's
they are a good heavy ring build of steel,,,ive never had one loosen up or let a scope slip.
they are also windage adjustable.

I dont remember what i paid for the last set....but they are a bit expensive.

Many good rings out there, and some crap too. Get good ones or your in for problems. I agree with TCallbuilder, I have Millet Angle-Locs and they are great, I am sure others work well also, its just that the Millets work for me, why change for more money?....<><....

My .223 Handi wears a Bushnell E-3200 10x40 MilDot.
Burris Zee HIGH rings allow just enough clearance for the hammer.
These rings are matte-black steel with torx screws.
About $20 a set from Midway or Natchez.
