trigger on my new handi 243
« on: December 20, 2004, 06:24:02 AM »
I received my handi .243 stainless last week.  I was very, very pleased with the trigger.  It breaks very clean at 2 3/4 pounds.  The guys at H&R must have been reading or paying attention.  I can't wait to get a scope on it and go blasting!

Yep...I do think they are paying a-little more attintion to them...at least it seems that way from all the new guns with much better triggers on them...

what scope did you put on it and how did you mount it?

I also bought a 243 SS recently and the guys at the shop were impressed with the trigger.

What scope did you put on yours and how did you mount it? I have an old scope that I want to replace shortly and am a little concerned about clearing the hammer. At moment I am using High Style Weaver mounts - did you go for Extra High?

I put on a compact leupold 3X9X33 on with medium burris Z rings.  There is very little clearance but it will be fine.  Now, if I can just get it to group like I want.  I am going shooting friday morning, I will let you know.

Hey Deerman, welcome to the handi-home. Pay some attention to these guys and you'll have that thing shootin less than an inch in no time. I'm about halfway between Miami and Seneca, if it ever quits blowin we'll have to get together and burn some powder.    olredhead

Hey ol Red, you are close.  If I can brave the cold I am going to shoot friday morning.  I loaded some 87 hornady SP with H4831 & Varget.  I floated the barrel and cleaned it thoroughly with JB's.  I will post back next week and let you know how it went.  Merry Christmas and be safe.

any chance of a picture of your 243/scope mounting?

Thanks for the welcome MSP - New Zealand is a long way from New England but this website feels like one big (Handi) family!

Deerman12 - any chance of a photo of your 243? I am keen to see just how you mounted your scope. How do you find the compact scope? Any drawbacks?

I put the rubber washer under the front lug and sanded the sides a little.
