I had bullet failure from my .480 this morning. :shock: I was about half asleep in my blind when a doe trotted in the field from my right. By time I realized what was going on, getting my revolver unholstered, and realizing that I didn't have much time to take a shot, I finally got enough senses together to aim at the deer and when I pulled the trigger, my 400 gr. cast bullet, that was part of a lovingly assembled handload, failed to hit the deer!

Last day of the season, too. Oh well, more range time until next season! :lol:

Hate it when that happens. A classic case of the bullet's failure to do what was expected of it for sure.

You might just want to have another bullet from that same batch analyzed to see if it has any "deer avoidence" alloys in it. There's a lot of that happening these days I'm told.

I would definitely would quit using those bullets, they can't seem to find the deer own their own.
