There are extended safeties, extended slide locks, extended mag release, extended triggers, beavertail grip safeties, magazines, titanium firing pin,  oversized mag well, and solid guide rods. All of these are pretty much "drop-in" parts.

With some gunsmithing; a match grade barrel, match bushing, adjustable rear sights, front sights, 4-finger spring, target sear, and skeleton hammer.

This is only a partial list. Get a Brownell's catalog and you'll go crazy.

A mans gun is a personal thing, and everybodys taste is different. So unless he has mentioned additions he would like to add to his Springer, I would be careful about getting something like that. His gun may suit him just as it is.  A safe bet would be extra mags.....lots of extra mags. I like Chip McCormic's. Never went wrong with them. And ammo is always a welcomed gift at my house. It would be easy to find out what he shoots in his pistol. You never can get too much of this kind of "stuff' :D

I agree with twodollarpistol completely.

I'll add a few things anyway. A set of very nice grips may be appreciated (like ivory), but then again they may not.  Wilson makes good magazines too.  A good book on the 1911 may be appreciated.  Perhaps a variety of ammunitions that he wouldn't ordinarily buy for himself.

i don't think he would mind some extra toys to go on it we both bought 1911's at the same time and i bought grips for mine and when he saw it he got real interested in tricking his out but cash was too slim for him and really slim over christmas. i really think he would like a set of grips , he also love's to load both of ours up and just spray both until there empty, he get a big kick out of that. so i got thinking  about maybe a high-cap magazine? whats the biggest they make?
