Hello, I'm new to predator hunting. Is anyone else here in Illinois?

At Least One :D

The Cons that I see here is that I am being squeezed abit as the older folk die and the new owner post no trespass. Is getting harder to walk a few hundred yds to a diff calling sight after work & before dark as I dont have time to drive a few miles. Night hunting has become much more desirable.

The Pros are the cold weather. If you step outside and the wind is blowing right through you this is the time to go!
Those critters, "even the birds" have to feed much more just to keep from freezing. If you go there is an excellent chance that you will see no one!
The volume of the call will reach well into the posted areas.

Hi,

I've shot lots of coyotes in Stark County IL. It's lots of fun. I use hand calls. Places to hunt are getting fewer. We used to be able to go anywhere and nobody minded. There weren't any coyotes around at that time.

I hunt the Crawford County area when all the other game seasons are closed.

I might make it down there (Crawford) next weekend. This would be just southeast of Robinson.
Son-in-Laws Dad had a run-in down there. Would seem that he got caught out in the middle of a howling pack in the woods while headed for the deer stand. He did what any coyote fearing man would do....emptyed his shotgun then got up into his stand fast    :-D
