Not going to happen. Marlin says there is not enough interest. What a joke. You cant sell, what you dont have. the hardest rifle to sell, is the one that doesnt exist.

Doesnt sound like anything new to the big bore line. Heck they still dont have the "NEW FOR 2004" rifles out yet.

They are probably looking at sales of .480 Ruger chambered handguns and making decisions based on that. Poor idea to me. If they'd make one other than a guide gun in it I'd snap one up in a heart beat. I have absolutely no use for their guide gun concept and will never own one of them regardless of chambering.

It is doubtfull that a .454 M1895 will ever be made.  One issue is pressure: the .450 Marlin is loaded to ca. 45,000 psi while the .454 is a 65,000 psi loading.  Another is action length - it would take some work to get the very short .454 round to function smoothly in an action designed for much longer cartridges.  

I'm kinda iffy on the Guide Gun concept myself, but no one can deny that it has been a mega-seller for Marlin - so lots of someones must love the idea.

Don't care for snub nose guns, especially not rifles. When they were made only with ports that too was a strike against them too. I buy long guns only if the have a single hole at the muzzle end. No more.

I want a lever rifle to have a barrel 20" to 24" long with full magazine tube, pistol grip and shotgun style butt with recoil pad.

The CorBon loads go up to 49,500 psi in the .500 S&W chambering.  I'd imagine that the .460 S&W  is loaded to similar pressures.  If that is the case there would be 23% less case head thrust with the .460 vs the .500.
