I am holding out hope that Marlin or Browning will make the big boy for 05. Even better yet how about a Marlin SS guide gun in the 500 for it's first year. They would sell a TON of them. I have to admit I am not holding my breath.

Since Marlin found out that the '95 would not hold up to the .475, and its rumored that some of the WWG's are having trouble, no one else is holding their breath either.

This has to be on every wish list out there. I would even sell some guns to buy it if possible. Sounds like a brand new gun would have to be designed for the round. I have not heard if anyone had tried to use the Win. 95 or 86 but those would not be a common conversions most of could afford.

As Blackhawk mentioned, Wild West Guns in Anchorage is making a levergun in the 500 S&W. Hadn't heard about any of them having problems, though.

H&R is listing the 500S&W on their website as being available in some of their rifles for 2005.

Tell me if you think I am wrong? I would think that Marlin or another company would sell a ton of 500S/W's. Sure you would have costs related to beefing up the frame of the gun. BUT, once that was done you could expand your lineup by a lot. Just think using a CAD computer software to make a new state of the art lever action. It would be really hard to jam, be very accurate, tuff as nails and at a weight that was just right. I bet they could then re-chamber there older models to a new one and out sell the other companies by a ton.

I imagine if there was plenty of demand for the 500 S&W, there would be some levers on the market. But, would the 500 S&W do anything the .450 Marlin or larger cartridges won't?

As far as I can tell, the only thing that the 500 would do is sell more lever guns to folks that just like the idea.

Lots of us are likely to keep our wallets closed even if the 500 comes out in a lever gun, but if enough folks create a demand, someone will eventually step up and fill the demand at full production level. Guys, if you really want this gun, you're going to have to ask the companies to make it. If they perceive a big enough demand, they'll build anything that won't get them sued (and a few things that will).

Still, if they couldn't even make a .475" round work, and they're not willing to retool for that, maybe you shouldn't hold your breath for Marlin to redesign their models, or add a new one.
