Hey there 300WSM,
I personally have not adjusted a trigger on a 77, but I have a 77 flat bolt in a .243 which I had a smith work over one time.
From that and other experience, I will say, they can make a beautifull trigger on the 77s - I have had several worked on - BUT!!!!!!!! get someone who KNOWS what they are doing!
The flat bolt came home with sweet and light trigger, HOWEVER, it was set so fine it became unreliable in cold weather. Mine was set so fine, that after being out for some hours on a November day I came back to the truck and began to get ready for the drive home. When I clicked off the tang safety to unload the chamber the rifle went off! RANG MY BELL!
It could have been a very bad result!
A year or so later, I decided to get the rifle back in shape for use, and took it to another smith who fixed the trigger. It is still a very nice trigger but now it is safe to use again.
Keep em coming!
