I am so glad to see this forum board.  Just can't find Drilling and Combo gun info everywhere.  I have a lead on a Krieghof Drilling in 16x16x30-06 for $3200.  Is that a fair price?

What is the model, condition and age?  Looks like a great setup with the 30-06 and 16 ga.  If I had $3k available I would be all over it. :-D If my wife let me... :P

Hi, dougk, I spoke with you a while back about your Baikal 94.  I still haven't decided on whether to pursue the Krieghof Drilling or take a harder look at the Baikal.  On my lease (Edwards County) you never know what is going to walk by.  I do know that I want to be prepared this spring turkey season if an axis or syka happens by.

The Krieghof was made in 1984.  Don't know the model as it was specially built for the current owner.  It appears to be in excellent shape and hasn't been shot much.  The price also includes a 4x Zeiss scope and a .22 rimfire insert.  My problem is spending that much on a rifle when a Baikal might be just as good for my situation- or even better since I won't be worried about every little ding and scratch.  Decisions, decisions.

BTW- did you buy your Baikal in San Antonio?

Wow what a decision.  When I traded in the Beretta for Stoeger, Huglu the decision was easy.  The Beretta was too nice a gun to use in the Hill Country here in Texas.  What I mean is that the cedar and shrubs are very hard on guns.  If your concerned that the Krieghoff will get dinged, then you should look at the Baikal or CZ combos.

I purchased the Baikal in Austin.

Good Luck,
 Doug

That's kind of what I was thinking.  The Baikal or CZ might be a good match for me since I've never tried a Drilling or combo gun.  I'd have no trouble taking a Baikal into the field and using it hard- after all, my main rifle is a "cheap" H&R/NEF single.

Is there a gun shop in Austin that carries CZ?  Can you pass on the name of your gunshop where you bought the Baikal.  I live in Fredericksburg and it would be a nice trip to the city to check out new rifles.

Thanks for the advice.

If you go to Austin check out McBride's they have one of the best selections in the area.  But they don't carry the Baikal.

If you are interested in the Baikal check with Heritage on 183.

Good luck,
Doug
