New Remington SPS in a .270 caliber.....
« on: February 21, 2005, 04:17:00 AM »
My son has been shooting a .243 NEF since he was 9...he is 13 now , and I am getting the idea that he needs to move up to a .270 caliber for deer, elk, etc..and keep the single shot .243 for a varmit gun...(although he has taken several deer with the .243).  I have this urge mostly because of the bolt action.   He feels the single shot is, perhaps , a limitation if the chance for a second shot was necessary.   My question is, does anyone have an opinion on the New Remington SPS (which I think took over for the ADL), and am I no giving enough credit to the .243..which has been a fantastic gun for him.  Thanks......

It's really a mute point......sounds like your trying to talk yourself into a new rifle for the boy..........Heck....Everyone loves getting a new rifle, and the ones that mean the most to me today are the ones given to me by my father......They're only young once....go......make the kid some memories!

Don't know about the SPS, but the new CDL'S sure look nice to me!
