Again - the hammer mainspring has broken.

What kind of spare parts do I need for my Contender?
I believe that I have to order some parts - just in case.

I would suggest a pair of locking bolts...the split ones and a spare spring for those. That would be the parts that are actually on the barrel lug that lock up the barrel to the frame.
By the way if you are going to change your own hammer spring on a Contender...not a G2.....you will find it far easier if you have or make up a slave pin. It will hold the spring and hammer together while you are putting them in the frame.

You may find it hard to get those locking bolts now. When I called TC for them after buying a new G2 frame they refused to ship bolts. Said to pack it all back up and return to them for special fitting. Seems strange a minor part they've been shipping for free to the world for years can no longer be obtained even at cost for installation at home.

GB - did you ever get any locking bolts ? When my last barrel arrived from VVCG the ones on the barrel were broke so Jeff sent me several sets. If you want I can sent a set your way. They come packaged with the spring but not the roll pin.

PS - sverre - I have only ever broken one part on a Contender in thousands of rounds fired thru several. I split the hammer on an early model from dry firing it. Never broke a spring.....spring and lock bolt were broke on a new barrel I bought from a custom shop....broke on arrival. I did call TC today to ask about a couple of hammer springs....mainly because of your thread. They put them in todays mail free of charge.

I've pretty much purged myself of TC products.
