I have a 2000 Nissan fronter.
about 2 months ago I put a brand new battery in it it just died with out any warning.
Yesterday I washed it and parked it, when I went to turn on the factory alarm I noticed the horn sounded like a duck and not normal.

IT sounds the same with the engine running or off using just the battery

could it be the horn went bad (I personally have never heard of one going bad.) or could it be some other problem?

My guess would be that you got water in it, you will find that on almost every vehicle at least one of the horns will be pointed upwards. Had the same thing happen to me, except it was from driving through some deep water and not from a washing..... :D

the reason I washed it was because I have been driving it trough a lot of mud and water puddles I had about 1 inch build up of mud on the truck and under the finders. THe nissan only has one horn it is monted on the finder wall inside the engine compartment with a little 1/2 inch bracket and one wire. it looks to be very easy to repair one wire and one nut.

If it only has one wire running to it the ground is where it is bolted onto the vehicle. It sounds like a weak/bad ground, either some corrosion has built up there or it is just loose and some crap from the mud and washing may be the culprit. Remove the horn at the mounting bracket, clean both mating surfaces with a wire brush or sandpaper and reinstall, also be sure the wire connection is clean and solid. I think you might be OK....<><.... :grin:

A friend told me to do a test. un hook the wire from the horn then touch a hot wire from the barrety to the horn. It sounded like it should have.
he thinks it is athe horn relay going bad I have no idea where to find the relay.
