Have Several Questions that Need Answered, Please.
« on: February 08, 2005, 04:39:10 PM »
Just for the record, all questions are relevant to rimfire rifles only, NOT a centerfire rifle.

1.  Is it possible to convert an M77/17 to any other rimfire caliber by simply switching the barrel component?

2.  Are components designated as "M77/22 compatible" able to be used on a rifle designated as an "M77/17"?

3.  Are there any custom thumbhole stocks (preferably laminated, but not absolutely necessary) out there able to house the M77/17 receiver, and be able to compensate for up to a .92" diameter sporter barrel (20")?

Thanks for any replies regarding these questions I have presented, as I am interested in a few "customizations" for my 17 HMR.

The only parts that will fit on your .17HMR---as far as different calibers---are those made for the .22 MAGNUM----nothing else.

Thanks Omaha for answering questions 1 and 2.

Can anybody give me a couple of sites where I can find a good thumbhole stock compatible for Ruger's 77/17 layout?  I've made a couple of short searches, but no luck yet.  Thanks again.

After an exhaustive search over the internet, I finally found a company that offers thumbhole rifle stocks for the rifle I was looking for (M77/22, which I'm sure will work for the M77/17).  Hopefully, it will work out alright.  Patriot
