Smaller grips for T/C Contender
« on: December 30, 2004, 02:58:52 PM »
First time here, glad to find this forum. Just purchased Contender, made at least 10 years ago (G1?), it comes with Pachmayr grip and forend. Transfer will be done next week. Would like to have smaller grips, rubber or wood ones, I have medium size hand. Recoil isn’t issue, will use with 357 magnum and 22 barrels. Anything on the market?

Marry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Thanks,

Onty.

I don't have the website right off hand, but there is a guy out there called georgia jim that makes grips in various sizes in wood and laminates. I'm sure one of the guys here can get you a link for him.

Some of the grips from older versions of the Contenders had smaller grips. You can sometimes find them used on ebay or Gunbroker.

Like bgjohn says the early T/C grip was quite small, they look good to me, and they are inexpensive.. I personally felt that the finger groove pachmayr was fairly small ... could it be that you have the non finger groove "presentation" grip?? BTW I really personally disliked the rubber forend, and they do rub the frame hard.. , anyway ... good luck    Marty

I have several grips and the wooden presentation grip from T/C is the biggest and hardest to hang onto.  The T/C rynite grips are much easier to use.  You might try those.

Otherwise, the Pacmyer competitor is comfortable.  It's a smaller grip and holds well.  The Pacmyer presentation grip is also smaller and will fit your hand better.  If you shoot large calibers, you will notice the difference in comfort level if you use the Pacmyer grips.  I don't like the looks of them, but they do work well in terms of gun control and recoil management.
