.243 - twist rate - 100grn bullet ??'s
« on: March 18, 2005, 02:17:49 PM »
Recently traded for one of the Ruger Compact bolt action rifles in .243 Win., w/the 16 1/2" barrel and 1 in 9" twist rate.

This is my first ever .243 rifle and I'm wondering what bullet weight range the 1 in 9" twist rate generally works best with?!

Will this likely work best with bullets 80 - 100 grns or???

I'm really hoping to dial in a Nosler 100 grn Partition load!!

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Del,

I own a 6mm Ruger with the 1in 9" twist and it shoots everything from 75gr to 105gr bullets well.
Good Shooting,
George

The 100 grain Partitions should be fine with that 1 in 9 twist.
Hunting and fishing are not matters of life or death. They are much more important than that.
