I received a 24/47 from AIM. After cleaning it and getting my order of brass, dies and special ordering a cast bullet sizer - I have found the bolt extremely difficult to close and open on a case. I have to really force it closed and open. The brass gets a little boogered up in the chamber. The gun looks like it has never been fired. I cut off the shoulder area of a case and it is still difficult to close the bolt so it shouldn't be too little headspace. This is my first mauser, any ideas??? I'm thinking the lugs may be rough or have burrs.....

To me it sounds like you still have some crud in the chamber so i would either clean or polish the chamber first.  Next i would check the headspace if you had anymore problems.  It doesn't sound right that you cutoff the case and its still tight? It could be a problem with the bolt. Did you take apart the bolt and clean and lube it properly?         BigBill

I tried it with the bolt uncleaned/disassembled and with it cleaned. No difference. I also tried it without the ejector and firing pin assembly, still stiff.

Remington brass. No bullets cast or loaded just the brass

ARE YOU SURE IT IS THE RIGHT CALIBER.
I know that is a simplistic question, But it may be one of those
strange critters floating around that someone rebarreled/rechambered
decades ago and didn't mark it anywhere. You never know
about military arms (or non military for that matter.) As many
calibers as there are it theoretically could be any of them.

Steve brought up a good point.Another thing to look at is perhaps a separated case might be stuck in the chamber.These can be darned hard to see sometimes.
There is also the possibility that your cleaning was not thorough enough and there is still some dried cosmoline in the chamber.
If you purchased it from a distributor perhaps you have some recourse.If from an individual,perhaps ytou might contact that person for more information.
One thing sure,don't try to force it.Your resolve of this would be interesting.Please post results.

STOP I would try some new 8mm loaded ammo first.  Also I would measure the lenght of the cases your trying too.  It just maybe the cases.

I took it to the local smith and he stated it would cost more to fix than what I paid for the gun so back to AIM it goes....
