Goofy newbie with 5 questions???

This is a super forum,just found it my eyes are going bad from reading.  
 
                              1st : Are the neff and wy/hr centerfires made in USA?  
 
                              2nd: Why are these guns so accurate?  
 
                              3rd: Do they make a .223/50cal. ml (two barrel set)  
 
                              4th:For coyotes and target would I want the heavy barrel or the lightest gun I can find?  
 
                              5th: Do the majority order composite and SS?

1: i think so

2: the brake action is the most accurate action there is. period. the less moving parts the less variables you have i.e. more accurate. the only part on a handi that could be bad is the trigger and barrel. the trigger can be worked over to do what ever you want and the barrel after being broken will work fine .

3: i don't belive so. but you could always just buy the 223 and send it back for a 50 cal black powder barrel.

4:well this is a personal thing i think (IMHO) a heavy gun is a lot steadier to shoot off hand and off a bench/rest and in NEF the heavy barrels just seem to shoot better.

5: i don't understand the question. if you mean do the majority of people order composite and SS then the answer is no mostly wood and blue. if you mean do the majority of guns come in composite and SS then yes all most all of them do if not all (have to check the site i've not looked for a while http://www.hr1871.com/firearms/index.php )

and don't promise no more question thats what this site is here for and i like helping people with these guns as do the rest of us so ask away.

and BTW welcome to the site i hope you like it graybeard has done one good job on this place.

1) H&R/NEF single shots are made in USA.  However, they do market an auto loader .22, a pump shotgun and most recently a few double barrel shotguns that are made outside of the USA.

2) Mitchell has slightly exaggerated the accuracy of the break action.  Single shot bolt action guns are by nature much stiffer and have the greatest accuracy potential.  But with a little tweaking, the right load and a little luck these Handi's can be very accurate.

3) I know they offer a .243/.50 combo.  Don't think they offer a .223/.50 combo unless they have just come out with it.

4) Barrel weight is kind of a personal preference thing.  That said heavier barrels tend to be stiffer and more accurate as a general rule.  But how you plan to hunt (fixed location or lots of walking) should be taken into  consideration.

5) Only a limited number of calibers are offed in stainless.  Blued versions are much more common.

I believe most single shots are by nature more accurate.I have seen this many times with my own eyes.I have had several bolt actions and single shots,and it always seems the single shots are more accurate.This could be , because they make you take your time and shoot more accurately.I might also be a little biased though. :)

There is a big difference between a single shot rifle like a ruger #1 and a single shot break barrel.

Welcome to the site!  As for me I've got practically everytype gun most people would want.  Bolts, Semiautos, Pumps, Levers, Rollin-block, and Trapdoors.  When it comes time to go into the woods I carry a cheap $167.00 Handi-rifle, with a $700.00 6X18 Shepard scope.  Why?  Because I want to hit what I'm shooting at, and the Handi will do it.  Also the gun I carry takes such a beating, the less moving parts, the less there is to break.
