how much scope
« on: January 07, 2005, 02:39:44 PM »
I have a 223 rifle and wondering how much scope I need. I'm thinking a
4x12 or 6x18 leupold. I'm really not interested in a debate of which manufacturer just power.
Thanks

Leupold 3-9x compact is all I need on my .223, but my .22-250 wears an old Weaver fixed 16x.

I have a Leupold 4-12x on my .243. The primary use is woodchucks and other critters, but I also wanted to use the rifle as a back-up for deer. If I did not want to be able to use for deer season, I would have went with the 6-18x scope. While it is true that higher magnification will increase your wobble, I find myself shooting off a bi-pod 75% of the time when shooting chucks, crows, etc., so it does not bother me.
