Several of our posters have reported talking to customer service and being told that the 7.62x39 will be offered as an accessory barrel. No word on complete rifles.

HG/DJ: Got a 2005 catalog, hard copy,  unless I missed it there is no mention of a 7.62X39. I don't think that they would put out a replacement only barrel. Keep Your Fingers Crossed:   <>< Duce:

Yes, it's true!

The 7.62X39 is going to be produced this month, from the folks at H&R/NEF.
My Ultra is already on it's way.

Hello out there,

Just joined the forum and I'm already delighted to find that NEF will be introducing the 7.62X39 Handi-Rifle.  I have 2 Handi's; .243 and .44 Mag. Love em', they are great little rifles. I've been looking at the 7.62 X 39's in CZ bolt action. But they are too expensive for that type of weapon. More than I want to pay anyway.

Are there any Remington 788 fans out there?

Later,  Greg Szanyi,  Union, MO :D

I'm Greg and I'm active duty Air Force (E-7). I see that you are retired Navy. I'll be retiring this coming August.

I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in the admiration of the NEF Handi-Rifles. They are hard to beat for the quality and price.

Thanks to all who responded. This forum is the best on the Web, Courteous and knowlegable members who are quick to help.

I plan on sending my receiver in this week to be matched to a 7.62x39 barrel to compliment my .223 and 30-06 set.

((Long live the Handi))

                 Thanks again, HARRYGOAT

The CZ are worth every penny.

But so are the Handis, They just take a lot less pennies.

So were the 788s in their day. Imho, they are overpriced now. I had a few, loved them, wish I'd kept the .30-30 and the LH 6mm, but doubt I'll ever buy another.  The magazines and the trigger group are almost irreplaceable these days, and I've seen both fail.

I have a 7.62x39 CZ 527. It's the finest cast bullet rifle I've ever owned and I've owned a few. Only complaint I have is the scope blocks are overpriced and way too heavy.

I'll pick up a Handi in the short Russki when complete rifles are available, but I have too many barrels for my one SB-2 action already.
