Author Topic: Marlin 1894 loose screws (Read 604 times)

Marlin owners PLEASE HELP. I have a Marlin 1894SS. Some of the screws on the receiver always work loose after firing 20-25 rounds and have to be re-tightened or the rifle will jam. Now the trigger guard plate screw ( the screw on the under side of the receiver in front of the lever) has worked its way loose and has fallen out somewhere. Has anyone else ever had a problem with this??? What is the deal with all these screws coming loose? I thought Marlin was supposed to be a good rifle. Is there a cure for this or do I have to just live with the defects? Any input you can share with me will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!!!

Defect? Screws work loose on most anything. Use some blue loctite and carry on dude!!

Like VTDW said blue loktite helps but an ocasional going over is a good idea. You put some blue loktite on there & you'll make it way past 25 rounds tho.

Thanks for the replies fellas! Sounds like you may have solved my problem. I will try the Blue Loctite. Sure hope this works because I love this rifle. Its weight, balance, and overall feel is perfect. Where i hunt a good brush gun is all you need 80% of the time and the 1894SS fills the bill. Again, thanks for your reply.
