I was wondering if there was anyone here that fishes over there?I usually go several times a year with good luck catching a lot of cats in both of the  lakes and the river systems.Well just thouhgt I would see how many people hung out over there.

 I just read your post--I've been out of commission since late November when I broke my leg taking down a deer stand--but that's another story.

I try to get down to Santee once a year or so, but I don't always make it.  My favorite catfishing spot is at the upper end of the diversion canal (just down from Harry's).  My experience is limited, so that's just the area I know best.  I would be interested in learning other hot spots.  I fish for eatin' cats, not monsters.

I have a video from In-Fisherman that shows them catching some whoppers from the Rediversion canal, fishing from the bank.  Of course, they make it look so easy!  Ever try that area?

J-Train,sorry to hear about your accident, hope you get better soon.

I've fished around Harry's,both above in the upper lake and around where you are talking about with good success. My favorite spot is straight across from Canal Lakes Resort, next to the big bridge.I have caught a lot of good eating size cats at that spot.

The rediversion canal is a good place to go,but you need a buggy to haul your stuff in.I've fished that area a lot and caught some big ones there,
my dad caught one that went around 60lbs..If you are going to fish there you need to fish a while and move on up the canal a few hundred feet until
find a spot where they are bitting. When you catch a few you will need to continue the "stop and go"routine on up the canal.

BTW,watch where you leave your vehicle.Someone broke into mine and two others while I was over there the last time.

Thanks for replying, sd550!  I hope to launch at Canal Lakes Resort this spring and bring home a cooler full.  Thanks for the heads-up about security while fishing the rediversion canal.  I used to work in that area, and I know there are some rough characters living thereabouts.

Anyway, best wishes for a good season! :D
