Anybody shooting this in either the Contender or Encore in a rifle..
If so what kind of accuracy are you getting. I want to get one or the other just cant make my mind up. Have the ammo, dies and bullets to start but no barrel yet.

I am considering the same thing. What are you planing on using it for? If its a carry around gun I would go with the Contender. I am thinking more of a prairie dog gun in an Encore with a full bull 22" barrel.  KN

Hey Bud;
Just got mine together the other day!  It really shoots nice!

See my post in this Forum; "Shot my 204 today"

I'd suggest you leave the barrel the full 26 inches!

I will most likely use it for Varmint and paper. I have a nice stock set for my older frame its thumb hole and it just fits excellent . Plus I have a G2  with a real nice figured wood set. So I can go new frame set or old.
Plus I have the Encore in Wood and synthetic so I have lots of options.....
Thats why I posted the question thought somebody might say the one was out shooting the other. My problem is I like both systems.
 Yea I know buy one of each..

We (my wife and I) each have a 209X50!  Hers is new, it's a synthetic stock set and mine is a lot older and it's wood!
They both are equally accurate!  We have accessory barrels and now we need to get a synthetic forearm for hers, so she can use one of the accessory barrels also!
I think the biggest thing I like about the synthetic is that the pistol grip is quite a lot smaller and therefore a little more comfortable to shoot.

Friend of mine went to the range today with his new T.C. .204 barrel on his old reliable Contender action with 2 boxes of Hornady ammo.  Several " non shots" later he went home.  Several of the cartridges did not go off even when well hit.  Those that did go off showed poor accuracy. A call to Hornady was in order and the answer was that they thought that the chamber was over long.  Cartridges with well dented primers are intransit to Hornady for inspection and inqueries to T.C. regarding the barrel have been made by a very disappointed and long time shooter of Contenders in various calibers.  Anyone else have any problems?
