Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force! Like fire, it is
a dangerous servant and a fearful master. -- George Washington

Thank you for sharing the pictures IntrepidWizard.  What's the right word ? Surreal ?  I can't believe that people are capable of casually standing with their umbrellas protecting them from the sun, while watching certain death bear down on them as if it is the carnival coming to town! I have studied the second to the last picture for ten minutes, and honestly, I can't decide if those folks are grimacing and screaming (as I would be), or if those are smiles and laughter on their faces. Kind of make me doubt that I would be doing the smart thing at the first sign of trouble, by heading inland as fast as my fat little legs could carry me, or simply stand there with them, and watch it come ? I live in the approximate geological center of this continent , so with a little luck, I will never have to find out.  Cowpox

You bet Dali, No shortage of any of the three around here. The Weatherman is promising even more of them later this week. I'll keep an eye on it, to make sure it don't ball up into a Tsunami. If it does, I won't have a clue as to where to run. There's not much in the line of high ground around here either !   Cowpox

A friend forwarded this site to me. It has before and after pic. There are 14 diff pics, and takes a little time to load. I know the force of water, after getting caught in a typhoon in the south china sea while serving on a destroyer. I watched a carrier get its flight deck peeled back some and planes and life rafts torn loose and thrown over the side. You can guess what that little destroyer was doing.

Wow !!  Thanks for giving us the site Gun Runner.  I guess we know where a lot of the missing and dead were when it happened. In the last (14th) set of pictures, I wonder what the plume of smoke in the upper right, is coming from ? In the "before" picture, there doesn't seem to be anything but trees and grass in that location. Amazing how it just erased so much stuff. Even most of the trees and grass are gone !  It is hard to imagine the tremendous forces required to simply rinse away all those structures, and even entire sections of terra firma.  Brings new meaning to the old saying, "No matter how bad you think you have it - - - - - - -."  Cowpox

That do indeed be the case, say Dali Llama.
