How Materialistic Are YOU? Top 5 Things You Never Part With
« on: January 13, 2005, 06:54:41 AM »
TOP 5 MATERIAL things I'd never willingly part with:

1.  My custom 1911
2.  My hand tools
3.  My Chevrolet pickup
4.  My Schrade pocket knife
5.  My 24k 1924 Buescher True Tone

Even though I do believe in the saying "He who dies with the most toys wins" I guess I'm really not that materialistic.  As long as I have my family and we're all healthy, life's good.  Everything else, money, guns, cars, etc. can be replaced.

Amen to that. The toys can be replaced Good health and good relationships are another story.  He who dies with the most toys is still dead, and his family just has something to fight over.  :(

I gotta go with Old Syko on this one.  I really like my Harley, Freedom Arms, several guns my dad handed down, etc...

The only things I just couldn't do without and would die for are my wife and kids...ditto for a very few close friends and all the troops I've commanded.

Well none of us would want to give up our families???  Well maybe some of us....but.....

I was thinking of MATERIAL things that we wouldn't ever willingly give up.

BamBams did speciify in the text, "willingly part with".  So, even though he is only 3 years old, that's a good disclaimer.

The LAST things I would willingly part with would be;
Gemmer Sharps
Winder Musket (sporterized)
Colts Special Musket
Krag sporter (which I carried through too many hunts)

I recently parted with my hand-made Hawken of 30 years to buy my grandsons Christmas .22.  'Didn't hurt too bad, 'cause it was too damn heavy for me to use anymore.

My '59 Ford P/U would go hard, but go it would, if things got even tougher. 8)

Bambams   I didn't mean to foul up your thread with my original comment.  The thing is I like stuff and I like to acquire stuff but I ain't married to any of it.  Anything I own can be yours for the right price or the right trade.  I just feel that if I keep going at the same rate, at some point it will all have been mine sometime or other.

You haven't fouled anything up, and I understand where you are coming from also.  I was just curious as to what kinds of things people don't want to give up.  I think it reflects, somewhat, on a person's values and lifestyle.

Well, life does not come with a trailer hitch and trailer to carry stuff to the other side in. The Bible does not describe the Lord advising man to gather up things to take along to help him while away eternity.
I have things I like but not to any point of considering them necessities.

That be smart, say Dali Llama.  Dali say such "list what ya got" threads be merely providing list of possessions for nogoodnik thieves.

OK Bambams.  I get it now.  I wouldn't part with any of the firearms my dad passed down to me.  I've got a few military mementos I wouldn't ever get rid of.  I reckon that's about it though.  Everything else has a price of some sort...
