The only difference I see between the two is the hammer and transfer bar system.I have a topper 158 and newer frames.I wish they still made them with the older hammer and no transfer bar.Mine has plenty of hammer clearance due to the fact that the hammer spur is at a different angle.

model 158 topper

Hi v8r   I saw on a previous post that you had a model 158 Topper in 22 Hornet.  Have located one that I am very interested in and was curious about similarities between old & new models. I know a lot of the NEF's have long throats & 1 in 12 twist.  Wondered if the 158s were different, also in the photo it appeared (the 158) to have good case colors. In advance any info is appreciated.  Thanks!  Ken

I have one H&R Model 158 410, And I have 3 late SB2 frames,
 * ( eight barrels ) All barrels will all frame except my 45-70
barrel, It will only fit one SB2 frame Only The barrels that cane with
frames were factory fit. At this time I only use shotgun barrels on Topper  frame. Marv.
