Shortening the Mag tube on a Marlin 336CS
« on: January 14, 2005, 01:42:36 PM »
Dear Guys,

I am very sorry for this cross reference, but if anyone has ever shortened the mag tube on their Marlin 336 CS, so that it is shorter than the barrel, would you kindly take a look at the question that I posted today at the gunsmith forum, regarding how to firmly secure the new shorter mag tube to the barrel.  Is a single verticle screw enough, or do I need to use the  barrel band too??

Best Regards,

Big Paulie

I got a gunsmith I am waiting on to do mine.  He is going to cut a dovetail in the barrel and do away with the barrel bands just like the big boys (45/70, 444)
