My wife is buying me a cantilever slug barrel for my 11/87 SP, and I'm looking for suggestions on which scope to put on it. I've been looking at a Bushnell Banner 1.5x4x32 with a six inch eye relief. Thanks.

Six inches sounds a little extreme for a shotgun. And the variable power is not needed at the range you will be using it at. I use an old Redfield 2-3/4 power, but any fixed power under 3x should work fine. Most important thing with a shotgun scope is to be able to get a fast sight picture.

I would want a 4+" eye relief at a minimum. Slugs kick like a mule and my eye has been nicked by scopes with a 3-3.5" eye relief.

Stick with what ya got unless you want to spend $440 for a Leupold...I've use bushnells on my slug guns long before they invented a rifled barrel.... As a matter of fact the one I have on my dedicated slug gun I bought for an 1187 in '87... Some wise Ol' Man once said "If it ain't broke don't fix it".... Can't ever say I've never had a black eye, but its never been blackened from a scope eye. I like that long eye relief, keep my face lookin' pretty... MTNMAN :wink:
