I've had quite a lot to say about dog's and now I invite you to go to my personnal gallery page, right here, to see some of mine. I'ed like to put them here but can't figure it out. I took all the photo's and trained all the dog's. Also some mule deer photo's I did and some while I was out walleye fishing last week.

With a lot of help from BruceP and Gray Beard, I've figured out how to get those blue thing's in here to click on so you can see photo's. Here's three; Me with my all time favorite dog, s shorthair- an English Pointer called "Pete" and a Britt that I trained for someone else "Dusty". Dusty was the finest Britt I've ever worked with and the only one I would have liked to own.

Nice looking dogs all. I am particularly like the German Short Hairs. I am thinking of picking up a GSH this May as a family pet/hunting companion. I understand that they are very versatile hunters and relatively easy to train due to their eagerness to please their masters. I have a little girl who will be turning six in May and she has been wanting a dog for a couple of years but I want her to share the responsibility of caring for it and thought she was too young up to this point. She loves animals and I guess the six chickens in the yard and two house rabbits aren't enough for her anymore. Anyway, I'm not sure whether I should look for a pup or a young adult GSH. Whichever I go with it would have to be a 'rescue' because I can not afford to shell out several hundred dollars to a breeder for one. Any thoughts or suggestions on where to look and if I should go with a pup or an adult dog?

I couldn't tell you in your area but, the German Shorthair Club of America has a web site, I just went there. Scroll down a way's and there's site's for rescue dog's. Rescue dog's can be a good deal but you don't know what you've got for sure until you get it. I've a friend that got a Corgy thru rescue and the dog is screwed up. It was used as a brood bitch and kept in a small pen, scared to death of people. I knew a guy from Salem, Ore years ago that got a GSP thru rescue. It was a real nice dog but absolutely gun shy. Somebody really worked that one over befor getting rid of it. Sometime's you can go to field trials and pick up pup's reasonable if they're getting older. To find field trials check with GSP of Amer, National Shoot to Retrieve Assoc and in your area maybe National Bird Hunter's Assoc. All should have web sites.
