....in continuation of my last posting; In my earlier years I was always after those "hot" loads. I wanted the fastest and nastiest load I could pump out of my Blackhawks. After years and years of shooting, I'm quite surprised that they have lasted as long has they have. I definitley have never taken them to the limit but they're still pushing some good velocities, espeically considering the number of years and number of rounds I've fired through a given revolver.
The point I'm getting at here is that unless you have a specific need for hunting or something of the like, it probably doesn't matter if you make 1200 fps or 1050 or 1100 fps in the long run, especially when you're shooting 250 or more grain bullets...things get knocked over and/and get killed just the same. Shouldn't accuracy count over anything else? Why don't you look up some data and start at the 10% reduced load and work up from there? Check your accuracy on the way and choose the load that hits your target with good groups.
