Coopershooter,

I was wondering if you were going to be able to check in here while you were visiting family.  I got a big female the other day out of an old barn around Nevada.  I live between Bucyrus and Upper, so it's not too far from you.  If you get a chance, stop in at Norton Sporting Goods...nice little shop.

I agree with ya, I try to stop in there at least once every month or two in my travels between northern and southern Ohio.  It's probably one of my favorite places to stop into to b.s. for a bit.  If you get the chance to make it to Bucyrus, there is one called Baker Brothers Sporting Goods.  It's another small shop that looks cluttered when you first go in but the owner seems to know where everything is...organized chaos I think it's called.  Anyway, if you make it up there, go into town on Rte. 4, and the intersection with CVS pharmacy, turn right and go a block down...open till 5:30 mon-fri, and sat. till 5.  Closed wednesdays.  If you make it up, be sure to let me know.

I'VE BEEN TO BAKER BRO'S!  AND TODAY WE WENT TO SOME PLACE IN POWELL OHIO, THEY HAD AN INDOOR RANGE, BUT THE PRICES WERE PRETTY HIGH. ON THE WAY HOME WE STOPED AT NORTEN. THEY HAVE A GREAT SELECTION! AND PRICES WERE NOT THAT BAD. MY DAD AND I LIKE TO HIT ALL THE LOCAL SHOPS. IT'S CHEAP ENTERTAINMENT, UNLESS WE FIND SOME TREASURE WE CANT GET BY WITHOUT!
HAVE YOU BEEN TO MANSFIELD, TO NORTH CENTRAL OHIO VARMINT EXPRESS? IT'S A GUIDED GROUNGHOG HUNT. AND IT'S A GREAT DAY!!!!

My dad and I have been meaning to go to the place in Powell...Blackwing shooting sports I think it's called, just haven't gotten around to going at the same time.  I've heard about the place in Mansfield too, but I just can't see myself spending a few hundred bucks to shoot groundhogs when they are free to hunt around home, just a matter of knowing where to look.  For the most part, unless you can find a hayfield, I've had my best luck this time of the year looking along fields, or old barns with either a 22 rifle, or pistol.  If you make it up to Swanton(along the MI/Ohio border), there is another little shop, but for the life of me can't think of it right now.  The matches are also going on right now up at Camp Perry, doesn't cost anything to get in...just show your ID.  They have a lot of vedors up there, with all kinds of reloading/shooting stuff.  It's a good time, plus real close to the lake in case you want to explore.

CATTLESKINNER, LIKE YOU, I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT PAYING FOR A GROUNDHOG HUNT, BUT AFTER THE FACT, I MUST SAY, THAT OLD BOY IN MANSFIELD, MIKE GROFF, IS AN EXPERT GROUNDHOG HUNTER!!! AND HE SHOWED US ONE SERIOUSLY GREAT DAY!!! I CONSIDER MYSELF A PRETTY GOOD HOGGER, BUT HE SHOWED US 84 GROUNDHOGS IN ABOUT SEVEN HOURS! NO B.S.! THATS MORE THAN I EVER SEEN IN A SEASON! NOT ALL WERE IN POSITION TO SHOOT AT, BUT WE SHOT 12. AND BOTH MY DAD AND I SHOT ONE EACH, OVER FIVE HUNDRED YARDS!
OUR NAMES ARE ON THE FIVE HUNDRED YARD CLUB ON HIS SIGHT NORTH CENTRAL OHIO VARMINT EXPRESS.  IF YOU FIGURE OUT WHAT A PRARIE DOG HUNT WILL COST. THE PRICE ISN'T THAT BAD, AND AT THE END OF THAT DAY, YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU WENT!!!
