Ruger New Vaquero: interesting data
« on: January 15, 2005, 02:41:27 PM »
I've yet to hold one of these but did some checking on them just the same.  Found out three things:

1) They're coming down the pipeline and are beginning to be more available.
2) Found a pair (not consec. numbered, though) for $815--figure that's a pretty good price; FYI:  was on the Internet
3) Getting the feeling that there are quite a number going back to correct poor quality control.  Don't know this for a fact; could be just those that have sent them back letting everyone know; the ones that work don't get mentioned.

In any event I'm saving my pennies and plan on look HARD about this time next year.  It'll take me that long to stockpile the funds.

I talked to a local gun shop owner earlier this week.  He wont be able to get any of the new Vaqueros until April.  It sounds like it's time for me to head down to Portland, if I want to see one in person.

There's already a thread on the SASS wire about a new Vaquero in 45 Colt having its cylinder split by old Vaquero loads.  I don't know if it's true or not, since I didn't see it myself, but I wouldn't be surprised if folks are running into trouble with hot loads.
