I used to have a FA 454 Casuall--I sold it. I kept my dies brass, etc. I have recently found a used (less than a box fired) Taurus Raging Bull 454 Casuall in as new condition.
My old load (and I still have some of it loaded) was 31.5 grains of H-110 with a 300 grain Hornady XTP with a Rem. 7 1/2 primer. Chronographed MV out of my old 7 1/2 inch barrel was 1775 FPS.
Does the Taurus safely handle the loads that my old FA would? Should I pull bullets and start over again? I wouldn't start with this load to begin with, but my main question is, does the taurus typically handle the loads that the FA does? I would especially like to hear from you guys who have a Raging Bull or have friends who do.

I'm gonna answer that question somewhat indirectly rather than with a yes or no.

Will the Taurus RB .454 Casull handle all factory ammo and SAAMI reloads? Yes most likely with no problem what so ever.

Will it handle all the reloads folks poke into their FA83s? Not if I'm pulling the trigger but then many of the ones I've seen given out I'd not even fire in a FA83 for that matter.

Will it handle the load you mention? You betcha. I've shot that in my RB .454 often. BUT I normally load lighter for mine. An extra 100 fps or so ain't gonna make as much difference as finding an accurate load your gun likes.

I am shooting almost the same load in my raging bull, 31.2 grains of
H-110 with the 300 gr mag, xtp. After playing around with it ,this seemed to be the most accurate. Pushing out a little over 1700 fps.
probably a little faster than is needed but works well

the newer 454's should be able to safely handle all loads listed in most reloading manuals,and then some.I agree that the most accurate loads usually fall below listed max loads in most manuals.if shooting indoors it's silly to fire full power rouinds anyway.I wish we had outdoor ranges here in ohio,maybe I havent looked hard enough.shooting mty de outdoors is much easier than at the range with full power loads.
