Speaking of that...
« on: November 25, 2002, 03:01:48 PM »
I have been thinking about putting a pad opn my 45/70 to help soften the heavy loads.

Does this require any type of gunsmithing or do these attach easily?

I've heard that some pads need to be sanded down after installation, is there any pad that simply bolts on?

Thank you!  :D

I actually want to put one on my Marlin Guide Gun. I don't mind if it adds some length I have long arms anyway  :-D

I'll check and see if Pachmyer makes one for this if not I guess I'll try to sand one down.

Thanks for the info  :P

Pachmayr definitely makes one for your guide gun and on my 1895 Cowboy it is an excellent fit. You will likely need to make new holes for the screws following the directions but it will fit the butt fine if you do.

Thanks all! I just ordered a "made to fit" pachmayr decelerator pad for my rifle.

I'll let you know how it feels when it arrives and I install it

I'm glad to hear that BigBill. I have to say that I always doubted that these recoil pads could make that big of a difference but your post encouraged me to try one out. If they work as good for me as they did for you then my shoulder will certainly appreciate it  :-D
