Wm. Shakespear: 'Alls Well, that Ends Well!' By that I mean, Mr. Piggy is a hangin' in the freezer!

Thanks all for the help, still goin' to be workin on the group thing. Pics to follow.

Was a truly AWESOME hunt. I you have never been to K Bar Ranch you got go! Whitetail, Mule, Elk, Eland, Dove, Quail, Pheasant, Pigs, Coyotes and more with incredible service, meals and accomadations. WOW!

We walked our hinneys off the first 3/4 of day. Went to finally sit at the feeders at 5 pm, 'bout 5:30 Mr. Piggy ambles in for a look see, BIG mistake, BIG, life threatening as a matter of fact , BOOM, adieu Porky!

In "Sixguns" Keith is speaking of a load he used in the 45 Colt using a 300 grian bullet for a 45-90. He says that he was able to shoot 6" groups at 100 yards most of the time with it but it would always shoot into 12" and it was plenty accurate for hunting game. These days such a remark would be met with outright ridicule, but I suspect Elmer shot a hell of a lot more game than any single one of us on this board, and probably quite a few of us put together.

Mark, How big of a piggy did you get? Hope it is as good eating as the one I got a while back here on My place. :-D

Great job. Which load did you use, and how did it do on piggy? When I first saw the piggy, piggy, piggy post, I thought someone was trying to contact Michael Moore.

I'd definitely agree. However, with 12" groups at 100 yards, I'd even take that one step further, and say that he probably missed or wounded a lot more game than any single one of us on this board.

The story of Elmer Keith's first deer with the .44 mag handgun was somewhat disturbing. Not to a hardened hunter but to the modern day era hunter that tries not to offend a possible reader that doesn't care for our sport. We have all had our bad hunting experiences, but Elmer was a loose cannon many times. (IMHO) Still he was a springboard for handgun hunting and the .41magnum. I prefer to read the handgun hunting experiences of Bob Millett.
