Georgia Hawg Hunters?
« on: May 15, 2005, 04:02:36 PM »
Hey fellas!  I'm new to the hog hunting forum.  I was just wondering if there are any hog hunters from Georgia on the forum.  I'm from the Athens-area and haven't had the opportunity to hunt hogs up here.  If there is anyone that wouldn't mind showing a greenhorn like me the ropes I would be greatly appreciative.  I hunt with longbow, handgun, rifle, and shotgun.  I wouldn't mind just coming along for the ride -- I just want to see what it's all about and learn form someone who knows.  Anyway, if any Georgia boys need a partner, just let me know.

Thanks and good hunting,

Jeremy

If you do not mind going to a lodge I had a great hunt at Egan Hill Plantation, call Keith at 9112-748-5293

If you don't mind getting wet and you are in pretty good shape, you should try Broughton Island Hunts in Brunswick, Ga. It's operated by a great group of guys who have been hunting hogs since they could walk. It was Southern Hospitality at its best. They made sure we had a great time.
On the first day my 13 year old son killed a 275lb boar. On the second day he got a 300lb sow and I got two boars. One was 200lbs and the other was 175lbs. We used dogs and all were taken with a KA-BAR knife. What a rush.  At the end of the day we were soaked to the bone and exhausted, but it was well worth it. This is not a dog and pony show. It is the real deal. No pen raised hogs here. The web address is www.islandboars.com. The price is $400 for a trophy hog and $250 for a meat hog.
Good luck,
TD

This sounds like a fun and reasonable place to hunt. I'll have to keep them in mind if I go south for a winter vacation.
