marlin mod. 60 problems
« on: January 30, 2005, 02:22:24 AM »
my wife has a marlin mod. 60 in ss, with a simmons 4x32 scope on it. nice gun, has always shot well. as of late it has been jamming, stovepiping, whatever you want to call it.i have tried cci mini-mag ammo, plus numerous other brands, still not working. i have cleaned this gun from one end to the other, used brake parts cleaner then compressed air as someone had done on theirs. changed the spring that operates the bolt, i put one in from another older mod. 60 a friend has. still, it will not cycle, feed the rounds and fire without jamming. just looking for any advice on this gun so maybe get it to working before i pawn,or sell the thing. getting ready to send it to the scrap pile  ..thanks for any suggestions....flaco

Being that this gun is a new model,I wouldn't have changed any parts. You could look at the ejector spring angle and bend it to correct it.If you have the action assembly in your hand and the ejector spring and feed throat are facing away from you,the ejector spring should be bent slightly in or to the right and slightly up just enough to kick the shell out.If you need more help on this, feel free to email me.

I don't mean to be insulting, but have you cleaned it?  I have to clean mine after around 300 shots or it will occasionally stovepipe.  I don't clean it until that happens a couple of times.

Check the inner magazine tube to see if the plunger tip is not broken. Then, you might want to check the feedthroat for pitting or burning.I use  CCI minimags in most of my model 60's.They seem to like them.Let us know what happens.
