found a remington 600 mohawk in .6mm, with a 3-9 browning scope on it for $250 at gander mountain. the clerk told me that the reason the price was so low was because they price based on blue book value, which is based on blueing wear.  it was rated at 80-90% blueing condition. the gun looked in pretty good condition to me though. can someone tell me about any recalls that may have come out in the past involving these models? i think i'm going to get it. on gunbroker.com bidding starts out at $450 and goes up on them from there.

If it is in halfway decent shppe, you can't go wrong.....buy it, enjoy it, and when you're ready to sell it, you should be able to make some money on it.

I borrowed my friend's Mowhawk in .243 twice and used it to kill a deer...loved that rifle. Very manuverable, classy, and accurate (knocked a doe flat at 20 yards with 95 grain ballistic tips)...I'd buy it!  :D

Like the other guys said, shoot it and have fun. You just might have found a deal because someone thinks it doesn't shoot all that well. Short light guns are fast handling and great in the woods, but they rarely shoot tiny groups. Don't let anyone tell you that you need a gun that shoots under 1 inch to kill deer. 2'' or even a little more will still be good enough for deer at normal ranges.

well, i've been reading up on this little rifle the last couple of days. its seems the 600's have a reputation for accuracy, much like the old 788's do. i think with some handloads i can get accuracy and velocity out of the little gun. is main purpose is going to be a youth rifle for my son and daughter down the road.

There was a recall on some of these rifles that required that the triggers be changed.  If your trigger has a "V" on the side of it, the repair has been made.  If not, check the Remington site, and they'll direct you to a repair depot.

Oh yea, there is that dumb saftey recall...how embarassing for Remington :?...and even after the modifications are done on your gun (if they need be), I'd still be leery of that saftey...:eek:

All of this reminds me of yet another gun that I REALLY regret selling! I
bought a Mohawk 600 in .308 for my wife shortly after we were married
& I a gunsmith glass bedded it & installed a thick Pac. recoil pad. I loaded
some 150 grain Nos. Solid Base bullets & she killed her first buck with it.
Even with the pad, she thought it kicked, so I bought a 6.5X55 Swede.
With this rifle she has been happy ever after, but I should have kept that
rifle for some of my tree stand hunting. I now use a 30-06AI among others
for that purpose, but it would have been very handy & just as effective at
woods ranges. I hope you enjoy you rifle.

I'd get it if only because I really like the 6mm Rem.  I have one in a Remington VLS, and it's very accurate.  I think Remington is the only one to chamber a rifle in 6mm Rem. today, and that's only the one model.  Being a reloader I'm not concerned with no one chambering for it.  It's still a good cartridge, and as long as you reload you're never obsolete.  Just one mans opinion.  Best wishes.

Klutz at times, no doubt, but it is hard for a man who is not a Bill Gates to
keep all of them. By the way, there are others. But the good thing is I have several in my safe that are better than the ones I left behind.
