Has anyone used these on game animals? By looking at the loading manual it looks like they recommend a lighter weight than a lead/copper bullet for the same job. I'm guessing it's because of the all copper construction. How do they compare to a Nosler Partition? I plan on using a Ballistic Tip on deer size animals and am looking for a good bullet for wild hogs. Here in east TN they can sometimes get a little large. Thanks in advance for any advice.

The Barns X is a great well known game getter, In reality it is a JHP, if it were a full metal jacket, you would be pressed to find a state that allows any big game hunting using a full metal jacket. The barns X is known for its copper mushroom, the best expansion results I have seen. AIm small hit small. RAMbo.

90% of my guns are loaded with barnes bullets. You get almost 100% weight retention and great penetration. A hard bullet to beat in my book.

X bullets should be ideal for large hogs. I've only taken 5 whitetail with them, but only one failed to exit. That one was into a facing buck at about 30 yds. X bullets make a nice leaky exit hole if a trailing job is needed. All were one shot kills, and one deer ran for 50 yds with a broken shoulder and a hole in his heart. I don't honestly know what to do with the rest of my other bullets. I just want to use x bullets.

The bad news is that if you look at the " Barnes Store",they show 29 out of the 55 listings,various calibers and weights,"Discontinued For 2005". You might want to start messing with the TSXs rather than the X because I'd bet they'r eventually going to drop the entire X line in favor of the Triple Shock. You'll be able to stock up on them pretty cheaply if they do though.

JSR, I have noticed the same thing. I will use the X bullets until I can no longer get them. But I have also started buying the Triple Shock for some of my guns.
