? difference between survivor SB2 (308), partner 223
« on: January 29, 2005, 07:45:34 PM »
I just looked at the Survivor 223 I just bought and my Survivor 308.
The Survivor 308 had SB2 stamped on the barrel...the 223 Survivor had Partner stamped on the barrel....no mention of Sb2.
Any insight?

Called NEF today concerning the word Partner stamped on barrel instead of SB2.
NEF informed me (via serial#) that it was 2002 mfg and Partner is just the model name.
Serial # on barrel lug confirmed it is a SB2 frame and not to worry.
He said as long as the last 3 digits of s/n on frame and the same 3 digits are engraved on barrel lug, that it is a properly factory fitted unt.

Well, that's encouraging but anyone can engrave the barrel underlug, the last three #s engraved there is common knowledge among handi owners that have had barrels fitted and all new ones come that way. It's a good way to tell which barrels fit which frames when a handi-holic has several frames!!!  H&R/NEF has built so many different combinations over the years that it is hard to keep track of em all. If it shoots good and locks up good, not to worry.
