Best Saltwater Reel?
« on: January 09, 2003, 02:39:48 PM »
Granted there are different types of fishing which thus requires different types of reels.  I normally fish offshore for Kingfish, Snapper, Grouper, Tuna, etc.

I think that the best reels are the Shimano TLDs.  I have several of them and they have NEVER failed me.

I once fought a fish with my TLD 15 (the smallest model) with 25 pound test for about 1 1/2 hours.  I turned out to be a 14 foot Hammerhead (and that's no fish story - I was on a party boat here in Miami with over 30 witnesses. )

What do you consider to be the best reels?

I stick with Penn's, they have treated me real well. The 310 or the 320 is my reel of choice.
GUN CONTROL IS KEEPING IT BETWEEN THE 9 AND 10 RING.
